Two-axis variants (size × colour), per-variant SKUs and barcodes, automatic stock decrement on every POS sale, full audit trail of every adjustment.
Stop guessing when to staff up. See sales-by-hour, sales-by-weekday and the busiest category — pulled live from every closed POS sale.

Connect Google Business Profile and request a 5-star review 2 hours after each paid transaction — the sweet spot for retail conversion.

Common questions about retail and shop management software in Australia.
Yes — and unlike most POS systems it also runs the rest of your business. Take POS sales (barcode scan, cash or card, split tender, GST-inclusive pricing) on any phone, tablet or laptop. Sales automatically decrement variant stock, write a tax invoice, and post to your books. There's nothing separate to reconcile.
Yes. The POS works with any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner (around $40 on Amazon) and also supports phone-camera scanning natively — useful for market stalls, pop-ups and quick stock-take counts. Variants store both SKU and barcode fields, so you can use EAN-13, UPC-A or your own internal codes.
Each product has variants (e.g. Size × Colour), each variant has its own SKU, barcode, price and stock count. When you sell on the POS, OneBookPlus decrements the right variant and writes a stock adjustment with the order number — full audit trail. Set a low-stock threshold per variant and the dashboard flags variants that need restocking. Variants with no sales in 30 days show up as 'dead stock' so you know what to mark down.
These are the questions retail operators actually have on Monday morning — what sold, when did people come in, which categories carry the shop. The sales reports module shows daily sales, peak hours, peak weekday, top 20 products, full category breakdown, and the voids/refunds audit. All live, all derived from closed POS sales.
Australian retailers must charge 10% GST on most taxable supplies and quote their ABN on every tax invoice over $82.50 inclusive. OneBookPlus stores prices as GST-inclusive (so the POS shows the same price the shelf does), splits out the GST line on every receipt, and rolls a clean GST collected / GST paid summary at BAS time. Some grocery staples (raw fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, plain meat) are GST-free; mark those products accordingly in the catalogue.
Card payments are recorded as 'Card' on the POS today — the operator enters the amount the customer just tapped on the terminal. Card totals reconcile against your connected bank feed daily, so the daily figure on the dashboard matches the deposit hitting your business account. Native integrations with Tyro, Square and Stripe Terminal are on the roadmap.
Most shops we onboard come off a Square POS subscription ($60+/mo + 1.6%–2.2% per tap), Xero or MYOB for accounting ($35+/mo), and a separate stock app like Cin7 or DEAR. OneBookPlus replaces all three — POS, inventory and accounting — from $0/mo on the Free plan, $29/mo Starter, $69/mo Growth. The ROI calculator below shows the side-by-side.
About the author
Founder & CEO, OneBookPlus
Bishal has over a decade of experience in digital marketing, web development, and small business consulting across Australia. OneBookPlus retail features are informed by direct work with independent shops, boutiques, market stalls and specialty retailers across Melbourne and Sydney — owners who needed POS and inventory and accounting in one platform, not three subscriptions stitched together with CSV exports.
Most Australian retailers run three disconnected systems — a POS like Square or Shopify for the till, a stock app like Cin7 or a spreadsheet for inventory, and Xero or MYOB for the books. Each system asks for the same product names, the same prices, the same customer data, and none of them talk to each other cleanly. The result is duplicate entry, a stock count that's permanently off, and BAS quarters that take a Sunday afternoon instead of a click. OneBookPlus brings POS, variant-level inventory, sales reports, customer CRM, GST- compliant invoicing and bank-feed reconciliation into one platform built for Australian shops — boutiques, bakeries, gift shops, bookshops, market stalls and any independent retailer who'd rather be on the floor than in a spreadsheet.
The retail POS runs in any browser on any device — your iPad behind the counter, your phone at a pop-up, your laptop at the end of the day. Add products once with categories and variants (size, colour, model). Each variant gets its own SKU and barcode; type the barcode in or scan it with the phone camera or a $40 USB scanner. Prices are GST-inclusive (so the price the customer sees matches the shelf), and the GST line splits out automatically on every receipt. Customers pay cash or card — split tender if they want to mix — and the sale closes in under five seconds.
Every closed POS sale automatically decrements the right variant's stock count and writes a stock-adjustment row with the order number and timestamp, so you have a permanent audit trail of why every unit left the shop — sold, damaged, counted, returned. Set a low-stock threshold per variant; the dashboard shows you which variants need reordering before you sell out. The dead-stock report finds variants with no sales in 30 days so you know which lines to mark down or send back. Stocktake counts adjust quantities in place with the 'counted' reason — no separate stocktake tool needed.
The dashboard answers what the operator actually needs on Monday morning: how did yesterday/this week compare to last week, what hour was busiest, what category sold hardest, which products are top sellers, where are the voids and refunds, what stock is dead. The dedicated Sales Reports module goes deeper — 7-day / 30-day / 90-day windows, sales by day with cash/card stack, peak hours of the trading window, weekday breakdown, top 20 products, full category list, voids audit with reason, and the dead-stock list sorted by tied-up dollar value. No exports to Excel.
Connect your business bank account via the AU Consumer Data Right framework and your card terminal's daily settlement deposit auto-matches against the day's POS card total. Supplier invoices (cleaning, packaging, stock from wholesalers) are recorded against the right category; receipts can be snapped on a phone. Come BAS quarter, the GST summary builds itself — GST collected on POS sales and invoices, GST paid on supplier and overhead expenses, net amount owing — and exports cleanly for your accountant or lodges directly via the ATO Tax Lodgement app for the small subset of retailers who self-lodge.
Sign up free — no credit card, no per-terminal fee, no POS contract. Add your first category (Stationery, Candles, Books — whatever your shop sells), add five products with starting stock, set low-stock thresholds, and ring up your first test sale on the POS. The retail dashboard's setup checklist walks you through every step and auto-hides once you're done. Most shops are live in under an hour. The Free plan covers a small shop forever; Starter ($29/mo) and Growth ($69/mo) unlock unlimited invoicing, marketing and the multi-user features.

Real-world scenario
How a Brunswick retailer uses OneBookPlus on a typical Saturday
Priya unlocks the shop at 9.45am and opens the OneBookPlus dashboard on the iPad behind the counter. Yesterday: $1,840 in sales across 38 transactions, busiest hour 1pm–2pm, two voids (a wrong size on a candle bundle, refunded same day). Today's setup checklist is at 100%, so it's hidden.
The first customer walks in at 10.02 — she's looking for a birthday present. Priya scans three candles and a card; the iPad shows $94.50 inc GST. The customer taps her card on the terminal, Priya enters $94.50 as Card on the POS, prints the receipt. Stock automatically drops by three on the relevant candle variants.
At 11.30 the supplier delivery arrives. Priya scans each box in the products app — receipt adjustments add 24 units across six SKUs, with a 'received' reason and the delivery docket number in notes. The audit trail is permanent.
Lunchtime is chaos as usual — twelve transactions between 1pm and 2.30pm. Priya glances at the dashboard at 3pm: $1,120 in sales, AOV $43, 26 units. Two variants just dropped below their low-stock threshold and show up in the Stock Alerts card.
At close, Priya checks the daily total — $1,940. Cash count matches the till. The card terminal receipt total matches what the dashboard says was tapped through. Tomorrow's Bank Feed pull will reconcile the card portion against the bank deposit. The BAS quarter doesn't end for another six weeks, but the GST summary is already built — Priya hasn't touched a spreadsheet.
