Both are Australian-built. Only one ships GST-native invoicing, BAS, a full double-entry ledger, AWS Sydney hosting, and 18 vertical dashboards. We don’t play feature-list bingo, we cite the source.
MeMate is a bootstrapped Australian business management tool (theAD Pty Ltd, 2 to 10 staff) covering quotes, projects and invoicing, and it is the best fit if you have a small fixed-scope service workflow and don’t need BAS or vertical-specific dashboards.
OneBookPlus is built for Australian SMB operators across 18 verticals who want GST-native invoicing, BAS, a full double-entry ledger, an AI Companion, and a white-label customer portal in one platform hosted in Sydney, with rostering and payroll available as a $29 a month add-on (it works out pay, PAYG withholding and super, but it does not lodge Single Touch Payroll to the ATO).
Who wins where: MeMate wins on tight product-team-to-customer loop and simplicity. OneBookPlus wins on AU tax compliance, integrations (Xero, MYOB, BAS), data residency (AWS Sydney), and vertical depth.

Where MeMate wins
MeMate has been bootstrapped since 2020, operates as a small 2 to 10 staff Australian team out of theAD Pty Ltd, and runs a tight loop with their existing agency-client book. That means feature requests from active customers often land quickly, and the product is shaped around the daily workflow of a small fixed-scope project business. If your business looks like that (quote, deliver, invoice, repeat) and you don’t need quarterly BAS, rostering and payroll, vertical dashboards, or AU data residency, MeMate’s simplicity and direct support are genuine advantages. We’d rather you stay than switch and regret it.
Where OneBookPlus wins
OneBookPlus generates quarterly BAS-ready reports (G1, 1A, 1B), validates ABNs against the ATO register at quote time, and exports Xero / MYOB-shaped CSVs for your bookkeeper. Rostering and payroll are a separate $29 a month add-on with a 14 day trial: rosters, timesheets, pay runs, PAYG withholding to the ATO Schedule 1 coefficients, super, penalty rates, leave accrual, payslips and an ABA bank file. It does not lodge Single Touch Payroll pay events to the ATO, so you still report each pay run through STP-enabled software. MeMate’s public features page does not document Xero, MYOB, STP, BAS, or ABN-lookup integration. If that’s privately on their roadmap we haven’t seen it published, so ask MeMate directly before assuming compliance lodgement is handled.
OneBookPlus is hosted in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2). MeMate’s subprocessor list shows AWS, United States. For most small operators this is invisible, until a customer asks where their data lives under APP 8, or you need to answer a procurement questionnaire from a state-government or healthcare client. AU residency removes a class of conversations entirely.
OneBookPlus ships dedicated dashboards and workflows for 18 verticals (trades, automotive, fitness, education, aged care, health & beauty, professional services, restaurant/hotel, retail, mortgage broker, tax agency, and more), plus an AI Companion for no-show follow-up, payment chase, predictive rebooking, winback, review harvesting, and end-of-day summaries. MeMate’s site lists 6 industries with tailored copy on roughly two, and AI features are not publicly documented on the features page.
MeMate prices verified against the MeMate pricing page (memate.com.au/pricing) and re-checked on 1 August 2026. GST inclusivity is not declared on that page, so AU buyers should ask before signing.
OneBookPlus

MeMate
GST inclusivity not declared on memate.com.au/pricing. No annual-billing discount shown.
Both are Australian-built, and both cover quoting, jobs and invoicing, so the overlap is real. The practical difference: OneBookPlus ships native GST invoicing with ABN validation, quarterly BAS reports, a full double-entry ledger, and 18 vertical dashboards, plus a Rostering & Payroll add-on at $29 a month that runs rosters, timesheets and pay runs. That add-on works out PAYG withholding and super and produces payslips and an ABA bank file, but it does not lodge Single Touch Payroll pay events to the ATO, so you still report each pay run through STP-enabled software. MeMate's public feature page documents quoting, projects, and invoicing, but not Xero/MYOB/STP/BAS integration, and the subprocessor list shows AWS United States rather than AWS Sydney.
OneBookPlus runs in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2) so customer data stays in Australia. MeMate's public subprocessor list (memate.com.au/subprocessors) shows AWS in the United States. If APP 8 cross-border disclosure matters to your customers, that's a real difference.
MeMate publishes a Business plan, a Business+Work plan and a custom Enterprise tier; the current figures are on memate.com.au/pricing and in the plan-by-plan comparison on this page. Two things to note as an Australian buyer: the page does not declare whether those prices include GST, and no annual-billing discount is shown. OneBookPlus is $0/Free, $29 Starter, $49 Plus, $69 Growth, all prices inc. GST, with annual billing visible on the page.
Not according to MeMate's public features page (memate.com.au/features) as of the last-reviewed date below. That doesn't mean those integrations don't exist privately, but as a buyer you should ask MeMate directly before assuming compliance lodgement is covered. Our own position, plainly: OneBookPlus ships Xero export and BAS-ready quarterly reports out of the box, and does not lodge Single Touch Payroll. The Rostering & Payroll add-on ($29 a month, 14 day trial) schedules staff, runs pay runs, works out PAYG withholding and super, and produces payslips and an ABA bank file, but STP pay-event reporting to the ATO is not available yet, so you keep reporting each pay run through STP-enabled software.
MeMate has been bootstrapped since 2020 and is run by the same agency that built the product (theAD Pty Ltd), which means a tight feedback loop with their existing client book. If you're already running a MeMate-shaped workflow with a small fixed-scope project pipeline and you don't need vertical-specific dashboards or GST/BAS, the switch isn't urgent.
