Where TrueCoach is still the better choice
The honest answer: OneBookPlus is the right call for almost every Australian personal trainer running a mixed business (1-on-1 in-person + occasional online + admin). But there are two situations where TrueCoach is still worth paying USD for.
1. Pure remote programming with daily client check-in messaging
If your business is 100% remote programming with no in-person sessions, no bookings, no packs, and your daily workflow is heavy client messaging and form-check video review, TrueCoach’s standalone focus and its more mature cohort messaging module is currently a tighter fit. The trade-off is you’re paying USD for one slice of a business when the other slices (invoicing, GST, BAS) still need a separate tool — but if your remote programming model genuinely doesn’t touch those slices, TrueCoach’s purpose-built focus is real.
2. Native iOS / Android client apps
TrueCoach ships native iOS and Android apps in the App Store and Play Store with your branding (on higher tiers). OneBookPlus delivers the client experience through a responsive web portal saved to the home screen as a PWA, which covers the great majority of use cases but doesn’t put your name in the app stores. Native branded apps are on the OneBookPlus roadmap; if app-store presence is non-negotiable for your brand, TrueCoach currently wins this point.
In short: for any Australian PT running a typical mix of in-person + online sessions, who issues invoices and needs to track BAS, OneBookPlus + Workout Builder is the clean choice — programming and business in one place, AUD-billed, no FX. For pure-remote programming-only specialists or PTs with non-negotiable native-app branding, TrueCoach’s focus may still be the better tool.
