6Half your revenue walks in off the street; the other half is made to order. OneBookPlus is built to run the counter and the bench from the same book.
Ring up counter sales on any device, with your product catalogue, stock levels and daily sales in the same system as your custom work. Sell a chain over the counter at 11am and quote an engagement ring at 11:15 without switching apps.
Quote the bespoke piece, convert the accepted quote into a sales order with a deposit, track it through production to ready, then invoice on delivery. One chain of documents, with your line detail carried through every step.
Add the line columns a jewellery invoice needs: net weight, loss, metal rate, making charge, with computed totals. Record today's gold and silver rates once and quick-fill the rate column instead of typing it on every line.
Log a resize, restring or claw re-tip as an order and track it through the same production statuses as a custom piece: confirmed, in production, ready, with an expected-ready date the counter staff can quote to the customer.
Buying scrap or second-hand gold from the public makes you a regulated second-hand dealer in most states. OneBookPlus includes a dedicated old-gold intake register: seller identity, item description, weight, purity, price paid and payment method, kept as a retained record.
Every counter sale, custom order and repair raises a GST-inclusive tax invoice with your ABN. Payments land via Stripe or the till, expenses and supplier invoices are tracked, and your BAS-time GST summary exports in one click.
Free plan available, no card needed.
A bespoke piece is not a counter sale. It needs a detailed quote, a deposit, weeks at the bench and an invoice on delivery, and the paperwork usually lives in three places. In OneBookPlus it is one chain: the quote converts to a sales order, the sales order tracks production, and the finished order converts to the invoice, with your jewellery line columns carried through every document.
Line items with net weight, metal rate and making charge, sent for approval with one click.
The accepted quote converts in one step. Record the deposit so the balance owing is always visible.
Confirmed, in production, ready, fulfilled, each timestamped, with an expected-ready date on the order.
The order converts to a GST-inclusive invoice with the deposit shown and the balance payable on the spot.
| Order | Piece | Total (inc. GST) | Deposit | Status | Ready by |

The OneBookPlus retail POS: ring up chains, findings and giftware at the counter, with stock levels updating as you sell and a daily sales summary at close.

A quote for a bespoke piece with your line items and pricing, sent for approval with one click. Accepted quotes convert straight into a sales order.

When the piece is ready, the sales order converts to a GST-inclusive invoice with your ABN, the deposit already recorded and a Stripe Pay Now link for the balance.

From first sketch to collection day in four steps.
Build the quote line by line with your jewellery columns: net weight, metal rate, making charge. Send it for approval with one click, and take the deposit conversation from there.
The accepted quote becomes a sales order in one step, carrying every line and custom column with it. Record the deposit against the order so the balance owing is always visible.
Move the order through confirmed, in production and ready. The expected-ready date sits on the order, so anyone at the counter can answer 'when will it be done?' without calling the bench.
When the customer collects, the sales order converts to a GST-inclusive invoice with the deposit shown and the balance payable by card, Stripe link or cash at the counter.

Common questions about POS, custom-order and invoicing software for jewellers in Australia.
Square and Shopify are strong retail systems: fast at the counter, good hardware, and Shopify in particular is hard to beat if online sales are a big part of your business. Xero is a proper accounting ledger your bookkeeper already knows. What none of them have is a concept of a bespoke piece that needs a quote, a deposit, weeks at the bench and an invoice on delivery, which is why the custom side so often ends up in a diary or spreadsheet beside the POS. OneBookPlus runs both halves in one place: retail POS with stock control, a quote to sales order to invoice chain with deposits and production statuses, jewellery invoice columns for weight, metal rate and making charge, an old-gold intake register, and GST invoicing with accounting behind it. If your store is pure retail with no made-to-order work, a dedicated retail POS will do the job with less to learn.
You quote the piece line by line, including your jewellery columns such as net weight, metal rate and making charge. When the customer accepts, the quote converts to a sales order in one step, and you record the deposit against it. The order then moves through production statuses: confirmed, in production, ready, fulfilled, each with a timestamp, plus an expected-ready date you can quote to the customer. On delivery the order converts to a GST-inclusive invoice with the deposit already accounted for. Every line and custom column survives the whole chain, so nothing is retyped.
Yes. OneBookPlus has a custom-field builder for invoices and sales orders, and choosing jewellery as your business type applies a jewellery preset automatically: line columns for net weight, loss, metal rate and making, with computed totals (total weight from net weight plus loss, and metal amount from weight times rate). Columns can carry a second-language label alongside the English one. You can add, rename or remove fields from settings at any time; the engine is generic, the jewellery preset is just a head start.
You record today's rates once, for example 22k gold, 18k gold and silver, priced per tola or per gram. On an invoice or sales order line, the metal-rate column then offers a one-tap quick-fill from those saved rates instead of typing the figure on every line. Update the rates when the market moves and every new document picks up the current figure. The rates are yours to set; OneBookPlus does not fetch live market prices.
Yes, through the same order engine as custom work. Log the repair as an order with the item description and price, set the expected-ready date, and move it through confirmed, in production and ready. Counter staff can look up any customer's repairs and answer status questions without walking to the bench, and the invoice is raised the moment the item is collected.
Buying scrap or second-hand jewellery from the public is regulated: most states treat you as a second-hand dealer (registration in Victoria, a licence in NSW, Queensland and WA), with intake-record and holding-period obligations. From 1 July 2026, tranche-two AML/CTF reforms also bring dealers in precious metals and stones into the AUSTRAC regime for cash transactions of $10,000 or more. OneBookPlus includes a dedicated old-gold and buy-back register that captures seller identity, item description, weight, purity, price paid and payment method, flags large cash transactions and keeps a retained, exportable record. These are record-keeping tools, not legal advice; confirm your obligations for your state with a qualified adviser.
The core platform starts free (10 invoices and 5 quotes a month, up to 250 contacts). Starter is $29/month for unlimited invoices, quotes and sales orders with Stripe payments and accounting, and Growth is $69/month for stores that want marketing automation and more team members. The jewellery features described on this page, including the custom-order flow, jewellery invoice columns and metal rates, are part of the platform rather than a separate paid app. All prices are in AUD.
Yes, jewellery sales, custom work and repairs are taxable supplies, so once your store is registered for GST (required from $75,000 annual turnover) you charge 10% GST. OneBookPlus raises GST-inclusive tax invoices with your ABN, tracks GST on sales and on supplier expenses, and produces a BAS-ready summary each quarter. If you want to sanity-check a price, the free GST calculator linked on this page splits any amount into its GST and net components.
Yes, using the same deposit mechanics as a custom order. Record what the customer has paid against the sales order and the balance owing stays visible on the order and on anything printed from it, so whoever is on the counter can answer without going through a book. For a staged build you can raise a second payment when the piece hits a milestone and invoice the remainder on collection. What OneBookPlus will not do is decide your terms for you. Layby and deposit arrangements sit under Australian Consumer Law, including what has to be in writing and how cancellations and refunds are handled, so write your terms once, have them checked, and reuse them on every order. This is general information, not legal advice.
The retail POS carries your product catalogue with stock levels that move as you sell, so chains, findings and giftware behave the way you would expect in any retail system. The workshop side is tracked differently and deliberately so: a custom piece is an order with production statuses rather than a stock line, and the old-gold register keeps a running metal position in grams in and out by metal. That covers what most stores need, but it is not a full bullion or gemstone inventory system with per-stone certification tracking, and we would rather say that up front than have you find out in month two.
No. OneBookPlus records what you charged, the weight and metal rate you priced a line at, and the documents you attach to a customer's record. It does not appraise, certify or produce insurance valuations, and it does not fetch live market metal prices, the saved rates are the ones you enter. If a customer needs a valuation for insurance, that is work for a qualified valuer, and the certificate they issue can be stored against the customer record so it is easy to find when the piece comes back for a repair or a remodel years later.

Read the founder bioA jewellery invoice is a different animal. The customer expects to see the net weight, the metal rate it was priced at, and the making charge as separate figures, because that is how the trade prices work. Generic invoicing gives you a description and an amount and leaves the rest to a handwritten docket. OneBookPlus has a custom-field engine for invoices and sales orders, and choosing jewellery as your business type applies a preset automatically: line columns for net weight, loss, metal rate and making, with computed totals so total weight and metal amount calculate themselves. Columns can also carry a second-language label alongside the English one, which matters for stores serving bilingual communities.
Metal rates get first-class treatment. Record today's 22k, 18k and silver rates once, per tola or per gram, and the rate column on every new line offers a one-tap quick-fill instead of a number you type from memory. When the market moves, update the saved rate and every document from then on uses the new figure. Once your store passes the $75,000 GST registration threshold, every price carries a 10% GST component; the free GST calculator is handy for quick checks when you are setting prices.
A jeweller who buys scrap or second-hand gold from the public is a second-hand dealer in the eyes of state law: registration in Victoria, a licence in NSW, Queensland and WA, notification in SA, with intake-record and holding-period obligations before an item can be melted or resold. And from 1 July 2026, the tranche-two AML/CTF reforms bring dealers in precious metals and stones into the AUSTRAC regime for cash transactions of $10,000 or more.
OneBookPlus includes a dedicated old-gold and buy-back register built for exactly this: each intake records the seller's identity and ID evidence, the item's description, weight, purity and marks, the price paid and the payment method, with large cash transactions flagged and the register retained and exportable. It also keeps a running metal position, grams in and out by metal, so you know what is sitting in the safe. These are record-keeping tools rather than legal advice: your exact obligations depend on your state and how you trade, so confirm them with a qualified adviser.
The rest of the money side is standard OneBookPlus: GST-inclusive tax invoices with your ABN on every sale, supplier invoices and expenses tracked against the ledger, bank feeds reconciling the till and Stripe takings, and a BAS-ready GST summary each quarter. One book for the counter, the bench and the safe.
Custom work is the one part of retail where you are paid before there is anything to hand over, and that changes what the paperwork has to do. A deposit on a bespoke piece is usually sized against what you have to outlay first: the stone, the casting, the bench hours you cannot recover if the customer walks away in week three. Recording it against the sales order rather than as a loose payment means the balance owing travels with the order, appears on the invoice at collection, and is visible to whoever is on the counter when the customer rings to ask. Layby is the same mechanics with a longer tail, and it is worth being deliberate about it: layby and deposit arrangements sit under Australian Consumer Law, including what has to be set out in writing and how cancellations are handled, so write the terms once and reuse them. Where the piece is priced from metal weight, the making charge is the part that carries your margin, and the markup and margin calculator is a quick way to check what a discount on it really costs you.
A resize, a restring or a claw re-tip is small money and large friction. The piece has to be logged, given a realistic ready date, moved through the bench, found again when the customer arrives, and invoiced without anyone hunting for what was quoted. Left in a book, repairs are where stores lose both time and items. Running them through the same order engine as custom work gives each one a status, an expected-ready date the counter can quote from, and a customer record that shows every previous job on the same piece, which matters when someone brings back a ring you sized four years ago. On the money side, the things that quietly erode repair margin are card surcharging on small transactions and the labour minutes nobody bills for, so the card surcharge calculator is worth a look before you set a minimum job price. If you also trade at markets or run a second counter, the OneBookPlus page for retailers and shops covers the pure-retail side, the point of sale app listing sets out what the counter system does, and the tax invoice glossary entry spells out what the ATO expects a compliant invoice to carry.

Who it's for
A shopfront with a display case, a bespoke designer and a repairs bench run very different weeks. Here is what each one uses.
Counter sales all day, custom orders on the side. Needs a POS with stock control, a clean order book for the bench, and GST invoices that show weight and metal detail.
Every piece is made to order. Needs detailed quotes clients can approve online, deposits recorded against each order, and production statuses so nothing slips past its promise date.
Resizes, restrings, claw re-tips and remodels. Needs each job logged with an expected-ready date, status the counter can check, and an invoice raised at collection.
Buys old gold and second-hand pieces from the public. Needs a compliant intake register with seller ID, weight, purity and price paid, retained for the record-keeping rules.
Stop overpaying
Most small businesses stitch together 4-6 tools that don't talk to each other. Here's what that typically costs.
Example walkthrough
An illustrative walkthrough of a typical trading day in a jewellery store
You open at 9am. The POS rings up a silver chain and a pair of studs before 10, with stock counts ticking down as each sale goes through.
Mid-morning a couple comes in about an engagement ring. You build the quote at the counter while they watch: centre stone, the band priced by weight at today's saved gold rate, making charge as its own line. They want to think about it, so the quote is emailed before they reach the car park.
By lunch they have accepted it online. One tap converts the quote to a sales order, you record the deposit against it, set the expected-ready date a few weeks out, and the bench sees the new order in the production queue.
Early afternoon a regular collects a resized bangle. The order was marked ready the day before, so whoever is on the counter already knew to expect her. The sales order converts to a GST invoice, she pays the balance by card, done.
Late in the day someone brings in a broken chain to sell. You record the intake in the old-gold register: their identity details, the chain's weight and purity, the price paid and the payment method. The record is retained, and the register is ready if an inspector ever asks.
Close of day: the daily sales summary shows the counter takings, the deposit and the repair, with GST already split out for the quarter. The order diary you used to reconcile on Sunday nights has nothing left to do.
