Your web address is not connected

If your own web address is showing a short holding page instead of your website, here are the reasons that happens and how to bring it back.

Why an address stops being connected

Your address is still saved with us. What has stopped is the connection between the address and your site. There are four reasons that happens, and the domain screen in your account shows which one is yours.

The connection was never finished

Your records were found, but the certificate that lets the address load securely was never issued, so the address never went live. An address can sit like this from the day it was first set up, and waiting does not clear it.

The records at your domain provider changed

We look for them every night. If they were edited, if the domain moved to another provider, or if it lapsed with the registrar, the check stops passing and the address is switched off until the records are back.

The address was saved again, or changed

Saving an address on the domain screen starts the checks from the beginning. Until they pass, the address stays disconnected, even if it was live a minute earlier.

The plan behind the address ended

Connecting your own web address is part of the Plus and Growth plans. On Free or Starter the address stays saved but is not connected, and the nightly check leaves it alone until the plan includes it again.

Nothing has been deleted. Your website and its pages, your bookings, your contacts and your invoices are all still here, and the address is still yours. It is only the link between the two that is switched off.

What your customers see in the meantime

Anyone who types your address gets a short page saying the address is not connected at the moment, with the line for the domain owner that brought you here.

It says nothing about your plan, your billing or anything else about your account. It is served with instructions telling search engines not to index it, so it cannot turn up under your business name, and it tells them the address is temporarily unavailable rather than gone, so the standing your address has earned is kept.

If your booking page is open for bookings, that page names your business and links it, so customers can still book with you. If online booking is not open, it offers nothing and does not name you, because sending someone to a page with nothing on it is worse than leaving them to call you.

How to bring it back

  1. 1. Sign in to your account. Sign in to OneBookPlus.
  2. 2. Check the plan includes your own web address. The Plus and Growth plans both include it. The Free and Starter plans do not, so a site on either of those serves from its booking address instead. Compare the plans.
  3. 3. Check the records at your domain provider still match. The domain screen shows the exact records your address needs. It is under Booking platform, then Domain. Open the domain screen.
  4. 4. Run the check again. Three things have to pass together: proof the domain is yours, the records pointing at us, and the certificate being issued. The address goes live the moment all three do. The nightly check runs them for you as well, so allow up to a day.

When to leave your records alone, and when not to

If the plan is what changed, nothing at your domain provider needs touching, and re-entering the same records will not make it any sooner. If the records themselves were edited or lost, putting them back exactly as the domain screen lists them is the fix.

If none of that describes your situation

If your address has been showing the holding page since the day you set it up, or your plan and your records are both right and it is still not connected a day later, tell us. We will look at the account with you rather than leave you guessing.
