What are my refund rights when buying from an Australian shop?
Australian Consumer Law guarantees goods are of acceptable quality, fit for purpose and match their description. For a major failure you choose a refund, replacement or repair; minor faults entitle you to a repair. Shops cannot enforce blanket no-refund signs. Change-of-mind returns are discretionary, though many shops offer them.
Does a shop have to honour the ticketed price?
Where an item displays two different prices, a store must sell at the lower price or withdraw the item from sale. Displayed prices must also be GST-inclusive. Stores cannot mislead about pricing; if you believe a shop deliberately advertised one price and charged another, you can report it to the ACCC or state fair trading.
