Setting Up Your Point of Sale
The OneBookPlus POS module turns any tablet, laptop, or desktop into a fully functional point of sale system for your retail business.
Enabling the POS Module
- Go to the App Store in the sidebar
- Find POS & Retail and click Install
- The POS option will appear in your sidebar navigation
Adding Products
Before processing sales, add your products:
- Go to POS → Products
- Click Add Product
- Fill in:
- Name — the product name as it appears on receipts
- SKU — stock keeping unit (optional)
- Barcode — EAN or UPC barcode number (optional)
- Price — selling price (GST inclusive or exclusive)
- Category — group products for easy browsing
- Track stock — toggle on to manage inventory levels
- Click Save
Setting Up Categories
Organise products into categories for quick access during sales:
- Go to POS → Categories
- Add categories like "Drinks", "Food", "Accessories", etc.
- Products are displayed by category on the sales screen
Barcode Scanning
OneBookPlus supports two scanning methods:
- Camera scanning — use your device's built-in camera to scan barcodes
- Bluetooth scanner — connect a Bluetooth barcode scanner for faster scanning
To enable camera scanning, grant camera permissions when prompted on the POS sales screen.
Quick-Add Items
For items you sell frequently, use the quick-add grid on the sales screen. These appear as large, tappable buttons for fast checkout.
Receipt Settings
Go to POS → Settings to configure:
- Receipt header — your business name and address
- Receipt footer — return policy, thank-you message
- Receipt format — thermal printer (80mm) or standard (A4)
**Tip:** Start by adding your top 20 products and organising them into categories. You can always add more later.
