Set up the capped-price service menu

Put from-prices on your public booking page so a customer searching for a price finds yours. Free app, with three conditions before the menu appears.

A customer searching for a price does not get one from most workshops, so they book the chain that publishes one. The capped-price menu puts your from-prices above your booking form.

What it costs

Nothing. Capped-Price Service Menu is a free listing in the App Marketplace.

The three conditions

The menu appears only when all three are true. If it is not showing, it is one of these.

  1. The Capped-Price Service Menu app is installed.
  2. Your business type is automotive.
  3. At least two of your bookable, active services have a unit price above zero.

The two-service rule is deliberate: a menu with one item is not a menu. Services with no price are skipped entirely, so a workshop that prices most things on request does not end up with a half-filled price list.

Setting the prices

Under Bookings, then Services, for each service you want on the menu:

  • mark it bookable and active
  • set a unit price, which is the "from" figure the customer sees. Round to whole dollars
  • write a description of one or two sentences. Customers read these
  • set a duration, which shows on the tile

What the customer sees

A tile per priced service above the booking form, each with the from-price, the duration and the description, and a link that opens the booking form with that service already chosen. A line at the bottom explains that from-prices apply to standard passenger vehicles and that final pricing follows inspection.

Checking it

Open your public booking page in a private browser window. If the menu is not there, work down the three conditions above, then check that the services really are marked bookable and active and carry a price.

The menu does not render on a trades-style booking form. If your booking page is set up as a trades job request rather than a service booking, that is why.

Choosing the prices

Set the from-price for a small passenger car at the bottom of your range. Customers anchor on the lowest number they see, and the inspection wording covers the four wheel drives, the utes and the European makes that carry a surcharge. Review the prices when your parts costs move; a menu nobody revisits quietly erodes margin.

Taking it down

Remove the app. The booking form keeps working; the menu simply stops appearing above it.
