Every marketing email you send carries an unsubscribe link. This is what happens when a customer uses it.
What the link does
The contact is marked as opted out of email. It applies to the address, so if the same person is on your list twice under two records, both stop.
SMS and email are tracked separately. A customer who opts out of texts has not opted out of email, and the other way round.
Where to see it
On the contact. An opted-out contact shows it on their record, so you are not guessing why someone stopped receiving things.
Do not undo it by hand
If someone asks to be put back on, let them opt back in themselves. Re-subscribing a person who asked to leave is the fastest way to be reported as spam, and in Australia the rules about this are not advisory.
Transactional messages are different
An invoice, a quote and a booking confirmation are not marketing. They keep going out, because they are the business the customer asked you to do.
