Pre-purchase inspections are work most workshops already do on the back of a job card. Vehicles, then Inspections, turns that into a product you can charge for and deliver properly.
What it costs
Pre-Purchase Inspection Reports, 19 dollars a month from the App Marketplace. Without it, the page shows what the app does rather than your inspections.
Booking one
Create an inspection with the buyer's details, the vehicle, a tier (Basic, Standard, Comprehensive or Custom) and a price. Decode the VIN on the intake form rather than typing the vehicle out, see decoding a VIN.
The checklist
Seeding the default template puts 76 items on the inspection across seven sections: body and paint, mechanical, suspension and brakes, tyres and wheels, electrical, road test, and history flags.
Each item takes a verdict of pass, concern or fail, a note, and a photo. The photo is the part buyers actually read.
If you have inspected a similar car recently, Clone from previous copies the findings from an earlier inspection so you are correcting rather than typing. Correct every cloned line before you send anything.
Sending the report
Issue a share link for the buyer and send it by SMS or email. The buyer opens a web page with the findings, the notes and the photos. You can revoke the link later, which kills it immediately.
Quoting the fixes
From a finished inspection, raise a rectification quote built from the findings. It is the natural second sale: the buyer now knows what is wrong and you are the one who found it.
What this does not do
Being straight about it saves you promising a buyer something you cannot deliver.
- There is no PDF export. The report is a web page on a share link. The screen says so in two places.
- There is no signature capture. Nobody signs anything in the app.
- There is no "save as template". The default 76-item template is the only template. Clone from previous is the closest thing, and it copies findings from one inspection to another.
- The default checklist has 76 items, not 120. Older help material said 120. It was wrong.
If your subscription lapses
Inspections you have already created stay readable, and any inspection already on your books stays finishable: you can still complete the checklist, attach photos, change the status and send the buyer the report you promised. Only booking a new inspection refuses. See which workshop apps are paid.
