App prices and currency by country

The amount you are charged for an app comes from the country recorded on your business, not from your browser or where you happen to be.

Where the price you pay comes from

Your business profile. Settings, then Business Profile, carries a country. The amount charged for an app, and the currency it is charged in, both follow it.

It does not follow your browser language, your network, or where you happen to be that week. A business registered in Australia is charged Australian pricing in Australian dollars whether it is being run from Ballarat or Bali.

Changing the country

Settings, then Business Profile, then save. Anyone who can edit your settings can change it. A viewer, or an external accountant or bookkeeper on a read-only role, cannot. Changing the country also sets a default currency to match it.

Changing it does not re-price a subscription you already have. Stripe keeps charging a live subscription in the currency it was created in. If the business has genuinely moved, contact support rather than expecting existing subscriptions to follow.

Apps that are not offered where you are

An app can be priced differently in a region, made free in one, or not offered there at all. An app that is not available in your region is simply not in your marketplace list, which is why a colleague interstate or overseas may describe a tile you cannot find.

The one exception: an app you already have installed stays visible and keeps working, even if it stops being offered in your region afterwards.

If a price on screen does not match what you are charged

The figure on a marketplace tile is worked out for the region the page loaded in. The figure that reaches your card is worked out from the country on your business profile. In normal use they are the same number.

If they are not:

  1. Check the country on Settings, then Business Profile. That is the one that decides what you are charged.
  2. Compare against the line for that app on Settings, then Billing & Plan.
  3. If you are on an older locked-in price for the app, the billing page shows today's catalogue figure rather than yours. See what your apps are costing you.
  4. If it still does not add up, tell support the app, the figure you saw and the figure you were charged.

Tax

What is added on top of the app price, and how it is shown, depends on your country and your tax registration. Your invoices from us are the record of what was actually charged.
