Add an app from the marketplace

The App Marketplace is how you turn on the parts of OneBookPlus your business actually needs, without carrying screens you will never open.

Finding an app

Open App Marketplace from the bottom of your sidebar.

The search box suggests apps by name as you type, and picking a suggestion runs the search straight away. So does pressing Enter. If you type and then stop without doing either, the search runs on its own about three seconds later. That pause is deliberate: it stops the list flashing half-typed results at you. So if you see "no apps matching" while you are still mid-word, that is not the answer yet. Press Enter.

Beside the search box are four tabs with counts: All, Installed, Free and Paid. Under them sits a row of category pills.

With nothing filtered you get the home view:

• Recommended for you, drawn from the industry recorded on your business
• a bundle strip, where a bundle applies to your industry
• Popular this quarter
• then every category listed in full. A long category shows the first six with a See all link.

Reading what an app does before you add it

The tiles in the list carry the badges: New, Legacy on an add-on we no longer offer to new businesses, and Installed. Open a tile and you get a written description, a list of what the app does, its price, and a link to that app's page on the public site.

Some apps also carry a Setup guide link straight to a help article. Most do not have one yet. See setup guides for individual apps.

Adding it

1. Open the app.
2. A free app has one button, Install. Press it and you are done.
3. A paid app takes two presses, not one. The sheet shows a monthly, yearly or fixed-term choice and a Start Free Trial button. See choose monthly, yearly or a fixed term for an app.
4. That first press installs nothing and charges nothing. It opens a second panel, and the actual choice is there: start the free trial with no card, or Add card and subscribe. Fourteen days either way, nothing to pay in that time. See start an app trial without a card.

Once the trial or the subscription is made, the app's screens appear in your sidebar straight away.

Who can do it

Only an owner or an admin. An app can commit the business to a recurring charge, so it sits on the same line we draw around invoices and refunds. An invited member, an accountant or a viewer will see the marketplace and will not be able to install from it. Installing is also blocked while you are viewing a demo business.

Apps with a condition in front of them

• Tax Practice Suite needs every user in the account to have two-factor authentication set up first. The install tells you how many people still have not.
• Google Reviews is part of the Growth plan.
• The website apps each sit at the plan that pays for them: the Website Builder and Blog from Starter, Shop, Members, Site Audits and Search Console from Plus, and Multi-language, A/B Testing, Webhooks and Approval Workflow from Growth. Their tiles offer an upgrade instead of Install until your plan reaches them.
• Some apps are not offered in every country. See app prices and currency by country.

If your business is set up as a tax agency

There is no App Marketplace entry in the sidebar for a tax agency business, so there is nothing to open. See an app is not showing in my sidebar.

Starting from the public site

The same catalogue is public at the OneBookPlus app marketplace, with search, an industry filter and a free or paid filter. Choosing Install there carries you through signup and opens that app's install sheet as soon as you land in your dashboard.
