What your apps are costing you

A guide to the labels on the billing breakdown, from a running trial to Committed until, and the one thing the page does not show.

Where to look

Settings, then Billing & Plan. Under Monthly Breakdown you get your plan first, then every installed paid app as its own line, then a count of your free apps.

The labels, one at a time

Trial, then how long is left. The app is on a free trial. The amount for now is $0 and the real price is shown struck through beside it. With under a day to run it counts in hours rather than rounding up, so you are not told "1 day left" with twenty minutes on the clock. A Subscribe button sits on the same line.

Trial ended. The trial ran out with no card on it. Your records are intact, and a Subscribe button sits on this line. This label is short-lived. Within about a day the app locks, and a locked app is not on this breakdown at all, because the breakdown lists what you currently hold. From then on you subscribe from the locked app's own screen. See what happens when an app trial ends.

Active subscription. Being paid for and renewing normally.

Annual, 2 months free. A badge next to the app's name when you chose yearly. The line then shows the yearly figure with the monthly equivalent underneath.

Committed until, and a date. Shown only on a fixed term. An ordinary monthly app also has a next renewal date, but that is a renewal rather than a commitment, so no date is shown for it. Seeing one would read as though the app stops then.

Payment problem, retrying your card. Stripe could not charge the card and is retrying. Update the card from this page. The app keeps working while the retries run.

A count of free apps, marked Included. Free apps are counted rather than listed one by one.

If you have no add-ons at all, the section says so and offers a link into the marketplace.

The totals

Under the lines you get what you are paying now, and, while anything is still on a trial, an After trial ends figure so the first full charge is not a surprise. The add-on subtotal is worked out on monthly prices even for yearly apps, so the monthly comparison stays consistent.

One thing this page does not show

If you are on an older, locked-in price for an app, because you subscribed before that app's price went up, this breakdown shows today's catalogue price rather than yours. Your card is charged the lower, locked amount. So if a figure here looks higher than your statement, that is the likely reason. Ask support and we will confirm the locked price on your account.

Only what you currently hold appears

An app you removed while it was on trial leaves the list straight away. A paid app you removed keeps its line until the period you paid for ends, because you still have it and no further charge is coming. An app that has locked after its trial is not listed here at all. See remove an app, and your data.

Who can change things here

Subscribing to an app needs an owner or an admin. Cancelling, resuming or managing the plan subscription itself is the owner only.
